Fr. Jim Donovan has been a priest for 38 years, ordained by Joseph Bernardin for the Archdiocese of Chicago in 1987. His ministry has been both enriching and challenging. He currently serves as pastor of St. Barnabas, a parish on the South Side of Chicago.

Throughout his priesthood, Fr. Jim has served the local Church in a variety of ways. He was elected by his brother priests to serve as Secretary of the Priest Placement Board and later as Vicar for Priests. While he has valued every role, parish ministry remains the heart of his vocation.

Fr. Jim was fortunate to continue his education at Creighton University in Omaha, where he earned a master’s degree in Christian Spirituality. Over the years, he has participated in parish missions and has preached and directed numerous retreats.

Fr. Jim looks forward to this experience in Orlando. Jesus often invited His disciples to “come away to a deserted place and rest awhile.” Fr. Jim invites you to do the same.
