As elders in the Church and in our families, we carry the gift of life experience, deep faith, and enduring love. This talk explores how we, as older adults, can meaningfully support youth and families facing emotional and mental health struggles. Grounded in Catholic Social Teaching and guided by compassion and cultural awareness, we’ll reflect on the unique role of elders in offering spiritual encouragement, listening hearts, and gentle guidance. With inspiration from saints who modeled healing and hope, and insights from today’s mental health realities, we’ll discover practical ways to help our parishes and families become safe, supportive spaces for the next generation to thrive—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
