The Season of Advent is both a subtle and gritty season as we wrestle with the already presence of Emmanuel alongside our not-yet longings and desires for the coming of the fullness of God’s Kingdom.
Perhaps no musical expressions capture the beauty and hope-filled yearning of the human spirit awaiting the advent of God’s desires than the melodies and words of our enslaved ancestors. They express all the dimensions of the Season of Advent and invite us into a deeper embrace of the Incarnation we will celebrate at Christmas.
Join Fr. Ben Berinti, CPPS, Pastor of Immaculate Conception Church, Melbourne Beach, along with Manfred Dreilich, Director of Liturgical Music at Immaculate Conception, as together they inspire us with reflections and the music of the Advent spirituals.
